Benefits of Pilates

Pilates is a system of exercises that helps to strengthen and stretch the entire body. Pilates was first started in the 1920s by a German gymnast Joseph Pilates, who developed a body exercise program that was based on breathing, relaxation and mental focus. He incorporated the disciplines of yoga, martial arts and gymnastics to create a complex exercise program for physical training, rehabilitation and injury prevention. Today, Pilates is widely used by individuals to improve posture, balance, coordination and circulation, strength, flexibility, and body awareness and boosts performance in sports while being gentle on joints.
